TRUSCOTT RESERVE UPGRADES WILL BE DELIVERED UNDER LABOR

15 April 2025

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver funding for upgrades to the Truscott Reserve Pavilion.

This election commitment would put $1 million towards the $2.95 million project, with the City of Greater Bendigo contributing the remaining $1.95 million.

Home to FC Eaglehawk, the redevelopment of the Truscott Reserve Pavilion will deliver female-friendly and fit-for-purpose changerooms equipped to meet the needs of the growing club and broader Eaglehawk community.

It’s also great news for Bendigo’s Karen community, who use the pavilion to host a range of cultural events throughout the year.

Labor Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters has been an ongoing advocate for the site, which received $219,000 to upgrade lighting in 2019 and $18,700 to improve wheelchair accessibility in 2016.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

QUOTES ATTRIBUTABLE TO FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BENDIGO, LISA CHESTERS MP:

“Soccer is growing in popularity, and we need modern-day facilities that the Eaglehawk community and beyond can enjoy.

“Most importantly it will remove barriers for female participation in sport by giving the fabulous women’s teams appropriate changeroom facilities.

"This upgrade will also aid Central Victoria's growing Karen community who often use the space for many of their community and cultural activities.

“A re-elected Albanese Labor Government and I will continue to deliver better community infrastructure for the Bendigo electorate.”

QUOTES ATTRIBUTABLE TO CITY OF GREATER BENDIGO CEO, ANDREW COONEY:

“Truscott Reserve is a fantastic project for our local sporting community and is focused on delivering improved female-friendly facilities at the home of Eaglehawk FC.

“The City is delighted by this commitment and the opportunity to deliver this important upgrade.”
