The new facility completed in May 2025 and officially opened today includes nine consulting rooms, three allied health triage rooms, four interview/yarning rooms, seven offices and 74 workspaces.
The Albanese Government is committed to strengthening the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services sector and improving First Nations health outcomes through culturally appropriate, fit-for-purpose health infrastructure.
Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative previous health infrastructure was at capacity, which constrained its ability to provide comprehensive, culturally safe health care to the community.
The Albanese Government invested $3.66 million towards construction of the medical and wellbeing centre in partnership with the Victorian Government investment of $7.4 million and $3.2 million from Bendigo and District Aboriginal Co-operative.
This funding was delivered through Round 2 of the Government’s Closing the Gap – Major Capital Works Program, which is delivering 33 First Nations health infrastructure projects across the country.
