Funded under Round 4 of the Regional Airports Program, this is one of nine airports across Victoria that will share in $4.5 million of funding.
The project will include the resurfacing the western end of the second runway, and the resurfacing and line marking of aprons, taxiways and taxi lanes within General Aviation and Northern Hangars precincts.
This will improve safety and access at the airport, supporting the continued use of the airport by aeromedical services including Victoria’s Air Ambulance, aerial firefighting, flight training, and accommodating future air traffic growth from regular passenger services and general aviation.
The total project will cost $286,000, with City of Greater Bendigo matching the Federal Government’s grant with a $143,000 contribution of their own.
Federal Labor has been an ongoing supporter of the Bendigo Airport, highlighted by the delivery of $4.5 million from this government for the new terminal and expanded apron upgrade.
Today’s announcement builds on the nearly $100 million that has already been delivered to support 194 projects under the first three rounds of the program.
