The Greater Bendigo region will receive $425,200 across 3 projects, with the Bendigo Electorate also sharing in funding allocated to multiple Local Government Areas for vital disaster preparedness projects.
The successful projects are part of almost $387 million for 164 projects in Round Two of the Albanese Government’s Disaster Ready Fund (DRF).
These projects will significantly reduce disaster risk and build long-term resilience in the face of increasing disasters, and are jointly funded with state, territory or local governments.
Successful projects include the development of flood mitigation plans for significant Bendigo waterways, and a flood study project to assess, model and map areas at risk of flooding in Goornong.
This is the second round of funding from the Albanese Government’s Disaster Ready Fund. The first round saw $200 million in Commonwealth funding provided for 185 projects. These projects are now underway across the country.
