Locals are encouraged to visit the Mobile Service Centre to find out about Australian Government payments and services for rural families, older Australians, students, job seekers, people with disability, carers, farmers and self-employed people.
Services Australia staff will be in Castlemaine Wednesday 23 January from 9am to 3pm at the IGA car park on Forest St.
In addition to the over 300 Services Australia service centres and almost 600 agents and access points across Australia, Services Australia’s four mobile service centres – Golden Wattle, Desert Rose, Blue Gum and Kangaroo Paw II – travel to rural and regional areas to help people access services and payments.
The mobile service centres have been helping regional Australians since November 2006, travelling 1,165,053 kilometres, visiting 7,157 communities and helping 207,995 people. During that time, they also attended 36 emergency events, spending 587 days in 409 disaster affected communities helping 28,772 people.

QUOTES ATTRIBUTABLE TO FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BENDIGO, LISA CHESTERS MP:
“Service Australia’s Mobile Service Centres visiting Castlemaine is welcome news.
“For many in regional areas, travelling an hour to visit a physical Services Australia location is not an option, so this is an opportunity for those seeking assistance with government payments and services to get that support closer to home.
“The Services Australia staff are trained and ready to help and I encourage the Castlemaine community to make the most of this opportunity.”
