COST OF LIVING HELP FOR BENDIGO ELECTORATE HOUSEHOLDS

15 May 2024

This is a responsible and restrained Budget which eases cost of living pressures for households in the Bendigo electorate.

It provides a tax cut for every taxpayer and new help with energy bills, rent and the cost of medicines.

It builds more homes for Australians, reforms our universities, strengthens Medicare and the care economy, and broadens opportunity in our society.

This Budget delivers:

  • Tax cuts for all taxpayers including 66,000 in the Bendigo electorate.

  • $300 energy rebates for all households, and $325 rebates for eligible small businesses.

  • An increase in the maximum rate of Commonwealth Rent Assistance by a further 10 per cent. This will benefit 6,185 householders in Bendigo.

  • Cutting $3 billion in student debt for more than three million Australians. This change will support 16,954 people with a HECS/HELP debt in Bendigo.

  • Pensioners and concession card holders in Bendigo won’t pay more than $7.70 for their PBS medication for the next five years.

  • Superannuation for government-funded Paid Parental Leave.
