Discovery Science & Technology Centre is one of the 12 successful not-for-profit and community organisations across the Bendigo electorate that received a share in $150,000 funding in Round 8 of the program.
The Discovery Centre received $20,000 from the Federal Government towards its project to create a Lab Space to encourage children with disabilities and other impairments to engage in STEM learning in an inclusive and accessible space.
Through the delivery of this project, the well-utilised Discovery Centre now has nonslip flooring, adjustable benches, and ergonomic chairs to target a broad range of students who have accessibility and mobility impairments.
Quotes attributable to Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters MP:
“There really is a shortfall in funding available to our community groups for small capital works projects just like this one.
“I’m glad to see the Discovery Centre receive funding for these important equipment upgrades that help create an even more engaging and exciting learning space for children.
“It’s vital that young people in our community have safe and accessible spaces available to them to learn and grow in our community – and this project delivers just that”.
