Aged pensioners, disability support pensioners and carers will receive about $22.20 extra in their fortnightly payments which will help them make ends meet.
Parenting, ABSTUDY recipients aged 22 years and over and rent assistance payment recipients will also see an increase to their payments.
The boost to payments will make annual pensions $5545 better off since Federal Labor formed Government after the 2022 Federal Election.
Federal Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters MP said the increases to payments ensure that locals receiving support are able to navigate cost of living pressures.
The Federal Labor Government remains deeply committed to helping Australians manage cost of living pressures and assisting them with a strong social security safety net when they need it.
The complete list of payments to increase as of 20 March 2026, as well as their new rates and thresholds, can be found on the Department of Social Services website.
QUOTES ATTRIBUTABLE TO FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BENDIGO, LISA CHESTERS MP:
“Australia’s social security system is a safety net that is continually strengthened and improved to support all vulnerable Australians.
“The indexation increase is putting more money into the hip pockets of local pensioners who rely on the social security system for support, and that’s a good thing.
"Increasing in rent assistance and support through home care packages is also how our Government is making sure all older Australians live their twilight years in dignity."
