Federal Volunteer Grants 2022

A new round of the Federal Government's Volunteer Grants program has opened, and I am encouraging local organisations to submit an expression of interest.

Volunteer Grants aim to support the efforts of Australia’s volunteers as well as to encourage and increase participation in volunteering.

Eligible organisations can apply for grants between $1,000- $5,000 which can be put towards: small equipment costs, fuel costs for volunteers, training courses and compulsory background checks. For further detail on guidelines including eligible expenditure click here.

I would encourage you to get your expression of interest in quickly. In previous years, these grants have been very popular with Bendigo and Central Victorian volunteer organisations.

As per previous years, applicants must submit an expression of interest which will be reviewed and scored by an independent community consultation committee.

This committee has been asked to make the following considerations when scoring:
  • How the project benefits the work of volunteers in the community
  • The extent of which that the project meets the guidelines of the grant
  • Project value for money
Groups that are successful in this process will then have the opportunity to apply for the grant directly with the Department of Social Services. If your organisation is interested, submit your EOI before 12pm on Monday 19 September.
Please note that funds for this round will be distributed in June 2023.
If you have questions specific about the grant and require support, the Community Grants Hub can be reached on 1800 020 283.
